Supplying Artwork
Artwork for vinyl printed labels
The 'no setup' charge is applicable when artwork is supplied in its final version.
While we are not designers, we can help with simple artwork requirements, bearing in mind that we would charge $15.00 + GST per quarter hour for our time. Therefore the more information you can give us, and the clearer you can be about layout, font requirements etc, will assist us in providing a faster more cost effective service.
File Types
We can accept completed artwork files in PDF, jpeg, tiff, eps, ai, freehand and a few others. The important thing is that the resolution of the images are high quality. 300 dpi is the recommended minimum, although the better the quality image, the better the print result.
Printed Proofs
We will provide printed proofs unless, the client stipulates that they're willing to accept the risk of printing without a prior proof.
Printed proofs are recommended if colour is particularly important. Colour shades do differ slightly from printer to printer depending on the way the file is created, printer settings and the printing process. If colour is critical, we’ll send you printed proofs, usually with a choice of 2 or 3 different printer setting options. Our printing process is CMYK. This means files made in CMYK, are more likely to match your colour requirements than files made using RGB.
Fonts
Most graphic files need to be converted to paths. Otherwise the font may change as the filed is opened at this end.
If assistance is needed creating an image, we need the font to be specified or provided by you, if it is not a standard Microsoft font. The minimum font size is 5pt.
Cutting Lines and Bleeds
With our vinyl printer we can print non standard shapes (the shape of your image). However to assist us with this, it would be helpful if you could provide an outline of the cutting line you require.
Shifts of up to 1.5mm can occur when cutting. Therefore, it may not be feasible for us to print labels that require a narrow printed border around the edge of the label. Text etc needs to be a minimum of 2–3mm from the cutting line.
If you are able to provide artwork with a 3mm bleed, this would be useful, although depending on the design it is often not too difficult for us to create a bleed.
Artwork for paper labels
With our paper labels, we can print up to 4 spot colours on thermal transfer self adhesive labels. This is an effective, and economical option for many label applications.
However, if the design and colour requirements are outside our paper label printing capabilities, vinyl stickers may be recommended as an alternative. We may need to view your artwork to determine which is the more appropriate option.
Printing Images on paper labels
It is likely that we will need to make some changes to prepare your image for processing on our thermal transfer printer. It will depend on the image itself whether this can be done easily. If not, then the $15.00 per quarter hour charge may apply.
Send us your image, and we’ll have a look, and let you know how easy or difficult our preparation is likely to be.
Printing text on paper labels
Text will print clearer, in a higher resolution if we enter the text into our label software, rather than printing from an image file sent to us.
This means, we prefer it if you can sent any text label requirements in a format we can copy and paste i.e word and often PDF. We may also need you send us the font if it is not a standard font that we hold.
We often email back proofs, but can provide printed proofs where necessary. An image of the label is also useful to identify layout requirements.
